Jesus is the Son of God and descendent of David – the divine/human King of kings – who proclaims the coming Kingdom of God and like Moses rules by the power of his words; through whom, as the seed of Abraham, all the families of the earth are blessed. Jesus rules so that God’s kingdom will come on the earth as it is in heaven. Jesus pronounces a series of blessings, the Beatitudes, which demonstrate how citizens of God’s heavenly kingdom are to live in this present age.
