Reflections on the Orlando Massacre

Early this past Sunday morning I heard the news of the Orlando massacre at a gay nightclub. My first thought was, “O God please, not some misguided Christian fundamentalist fanatic!” I still remember that before 9-11, there was Oklahoma City and the perpetrator was Timothy McVea.

The altar is a place of sacrifice. As we come to the altar, we are called to present ourselves to God as “a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God” (Rom. 12:1). Many Pentecostals spoke of the altar as the place of complete consecration to the service of God.
